For an appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

i) served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the medical field in the wider public service or private sector;

iii) a Master’s Degree in the relevant field of specialization or equivalent qualifications from a university recognized in Kenya;

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: -

(i) undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients;

(ii) carrying out Specialized clinical care;

(iii) providing psycho-social interventions;

(iv) providing clinical services to patients;

(v) training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities;

(vi) carrying out forensic and medico-legal services;

(vii) coordinating disease surveillance, prevention and control;

(viii) coordinating health education and promotion;

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: -

(i) monitoring and providing medical care to patients visiting the hospital;

(iii) giving medical education, explaining tests and procedures to the patients;

(iv) maintaining confidentiality and impartiality and keeping up to date with medical development, new drugs, treatment and medication;

(v) participating in Occupational Safety and Health Work programs;

3. SPECIALIZED CARE NURSE – THIRTY-EIGHT (38) POSTS - V/NO.283/2020

An officer at this level will work under the guidance of an experienced Clinical Officer or Medical Officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: -

iii) assisting in planning and conducting primary health care activities;

iv) giving support and health education to patients;

8. REGISTERED PHYSIOTHERAPIST III– SEVENTEEN (17) POSTS V/NO.288/2020

iii) a registration Certificate from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK); and

iv) a Valid Certificate of practice from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: -

i) providing physiotherapy services to patients in an outpatient unit/ward/health institution;

ii) assessing patients’ needs including rehabilitation;

iii) collecting, Verifying, and maintaining information related to patients;

iv) screening, assessing and providing therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy as per the patients/clients formulated treatment plan;

v) sensitizing the community on physiotherapy services; and

vi) preparing periodic reports

 

9. ASSISTANT OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST III- TEN (10) POSTS V/NO.289/2020

ii) carrying out clients’ functional assessment and formulating necessary interventions;

v) liaising with other healthcare professionals to exchange information about the background and progress of patients, as well as to refer patients who require other medical attention;

vi) sensitizing the community on Occupational Therapy issues; and

10. COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSISTANT III - FIFTEEN (15) POSTS V/NO.290/2020

(i) visiting homes to determine health situations and dialogue with household members;

(ii) identifying and sensitizing communities on health interventions;

(iii) identifying common ailments and minor injuries at the community level;

(iv) collecting data at the household level for analysis;

(v) distribution of Information, Education Communication materials, mosquito nets and other commodities to households;

(vi) identifying defaulters of health interventions and other health cases and referring them to health facilities; and

(vii) maintaining and updating health data using health registers

 

11. HEALTH ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER II - FOUR (4) POSTS V/NO.291/2020

(iii) overseeing the welfare of staff and patients and ensuring their security; and

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

(i) a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) and at least a C in Chemistry or Physical Science, a C in Biology or Biological Sciences, and a C in English or Kiswahili. In addition, he/she must possess a C in Physics or Mathematics;

(ii) a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution; and

(iii) a Registration Certificate of enrollment as a Pharmaceutical Technologist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) as per the provision of the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (Cap 244).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a more senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: -

(i) assisting in managing pharmaceutical services under the guidance of a Pharmacist;

(ii) working in a Hospital, Health Centre or Dispensary;

(iii) coordination of essential medical supplies;

(iv) manufacturing and Compounding medicine;

(v) receiving, Interpreting, and processing prescriptions;

(vi) recording prescriptions in a unit pharmacy;

(vii) pre-packing, repacking, and writing instructions on the label;

(viii) counseling patients on drug usage;

(ix) maintaining books/register of drugs requirements;

(x) recording prescriptions in a pharmacy unit;

(xi) counseling patients on non-usage of drugs in a pharmacy unit;

(xii) maintaining drug registers/books; and

(xiii) stocktaking of drugs and medicinal devices on a monthly basis

 

13. ASSISTANT HEALTH RECORDS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICER III - SIXTY-FIVE (65) POSTS V/NO. 293/2020

(i) receiving and documenting patients at hospital reception;

(ii) registering and booking appointment for patients to clinics and consultants;

(iii) storing and retrieving medical records documents;

(iv) preparing clinics, editing of patient case records, and gathering from different sources;

(v) storing and retrieving medical records;

(vi) balancing daily bed returns;

(vii) creating and maintaining a master index and updating patient master index;

(viii) directing patients to relevant clinics;

(ix) scheduling of patients to the consultants and specialty clinics;

Duties and Responsibilities

(i) participating as a member of Health Team in addressing the psychosocial effects as related to patients’ diagnosis, prognosis, and future resettlement and counseling patients especially in cases associated with pandemic diseases, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy;

(ii) extracting psychosocial information from the patient and observation of casual factors which might be useful to the treatment plan; and

(iii) implementing patients’ treatment programmes and follow up on discharge

 

15. ASSISTANT PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER III: EIGHT (8) POSTS- V/NO.295/2020

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 25,470 – Ksh. 33,950 p.m. (CSG 12)

House Allowance: Ksh.6, 750 p.m

Commuter Allowance: Ksh.4, 000p.m

Leave allowance: As existing in the Civil Service

Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year

Medical Cover: As provided by the government

Terms of Service: Three (3) years contract

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -

(i) a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) or its equivalent qualification with at least C in Biology or Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Physical Science, English or Kiswahili and C in Mathematics or Physics;

(ii) a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution; and

(iii) been registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board; and

(iv) a Valid Practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board;

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include offering general diagnostic or other laboratory services in a Medical Laboratory, blood transfusion services or Division of Vector Borne Diseases.

 

18. MEDICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST III- FOURTEEN (14) POSTS V/NO.298/2020

Salary Scale: Ksh. 25,470 – Ksh. 33,950 p.m. (CSG 12)

House Allowance: Ksh.6, 750 p.m.

Commuter Allowance: Ksh.4, 000p.m

Leave allowance: As existing in the Civil Service

Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year

Medical Cover: As provided by the government

Terms of Service: Three (3) years contract

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have an Ordinary Diploma in Medical Engineering from a recognized institution.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include maintenance and repairs of basic Medical equipment, plants, and instruments.

 

19. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT III- THIRTEEN (13) POSTS V/NO.299/2020

Salary Scale: Ksh. 25,470 – Ksh. 33,950 p.m. (CSG 12)

House Allowance: Ksh.6, 750 p.m.

Commuter Allowance: Ksh.4, 000p.m

Leave allowance: As existing in the Civil Service

Requirements for appointment

For an appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

(i) a KCSE mean grade C- or its equivalent qualification; and

(ii) a Diploma in Supply Chain Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: -

(i) issuing and receiving of stores;

(ii) preparation and maintenance of records; and

(iii) stock-taking and reconciliation
